Meet Our Winemaking Team
David Eifrig
David “Doc” Eifrig is owner and chief bottle washer of the winery.
It started 50 years ago, a spark, from an old Italian grower in Napa named Joe Heitz. Today we are committed to low manipulation in our wines. For example, my first Merlot was made by using only native yeasts on the skins and in the winery. This next chardonnay will be bottled unfiltered… nobody does this. We do. And I learn from a mess of people.
Jim Ricci and Phyllis Zouzounis
Jim is our vineyard co-owner and vine manager. Phyillis is wine maker, judge, jury and all around troublemaker.
It takes two to tango, and in my book, Jim and Phyllis are true wine professionals. Jim has grown grapes for decades, while Phyllis has been making wine even longer. A few times each year, our palates come together to shape the final blend. This photo was taken years ago at the Sonoma County Harvest Fair, where Jim and Phyllis brought home top awards—and where I fell in love with the craft all over again.
