Cabernet Sauvignon 2017 Alexander Valley
Our 7th Cabernet Sauvignon comes to us from Alexander Valley. Two weeks before the fires of 2017 destroyed our red grapes I was offered Cabernet Sauvignon fruit from Alex Vyborny's vineyards in Sonoma's famous Alexander Valley. Our fruit comes from southern and western facing ground and the wine expresses the terroir of Alexander Valley as well as any Cabernet I've had from there..
The wine is deep dark reddish purple with inviting aromas of darker fruits. I find hints of sandalwood, salty air, orange peel, and soft oak and wisps of cedar. The after tast lingers forever and mouthfeel perfection.
This reminds me of the old-world styles of Napa Cabs from the 80's and 90's but without the annoying fruit bombiness. There's also the elegance that French Bordeaux and Eifrig Cellars is known for. It's also perfectly balanced and will age well. Drink from 2021 to 2026.
A rare treat, but we made just 86 cases (Only 6 cases remain a/o July 22nd). Discounts on 6 or more bottles.
